
Tegenkamp Wins USATF 3,000 Meters

Former Badgers Matt Tegenkamp and Chris Solinsky swept the top-two places in the men 's 3,000 meters at the 2008 AT&T USA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Boston on Saturday. The UW duo was joined by Madison resident Jonathon Riley to claim the top-three places in the event.
Tegenkamp, a 2005 graduate, won the event in 8 minutes, 2.52 seconds. Solinsky, who completed his eligibility in 2007, finished second in 8:03.80 while Riley crossed in 8:04.86.
The top two finishers in each event qualify for the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Track & Field Championships, to be held March 7-9 in Valencia, Spain.
In the men's triple jump, 2006 grad Alonzo Moore placed seventh with a leap of 51 feet, 10 ' inches.
On the women's side, 1999 UW graduate Jenelle Deatherage finished second in the 1,500-meter run in 4:17.38. Nike's Christin Wurth won the race in 4:14.21.
The meet continues on Saturday with current Wisconsin team members Brandon Bethke, Jack Bolas, James Groce and Evan Jager competing in the exhibition men's distance medley relay.
The AT&T USA Indoor Championships will be televised Sunday from 5-7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
