Sophomore forward Meghan Duggan and junior goalie Jessie Vetter were each named first team All-WCHA selections, highlighting a group of six Badgers who earned All-WCHA honors, the league announced on Wednesday.
Last year's WCHA Rookie of the Year and a second-team all-conference honoree, Duggan earned a spot on the first team after leading the team with 15 goals and 29 points in 25 league games. Duggan leads the Badgers this season in both multi-point games (14) and multi-goal games (six). Since missing three games around the holiday break, Duggan has tallied 15 goals and nine assists for 24 points in just 14 contests.
For the second straight season, Vetter found herself on the All-WCHA first team. She was also named the 2007-08 WCHA Goaltending Champion based on her league-leading 1.38 goals against average in 26 league games. For the season, the 2007 first team All-American boasts an overall record of 24-7-2 with 10 shutouts and a .930 save percentage.
Junior forward Erika Lawler found herself on the All-WCHA second team thanks to 21 assists and 28 points in 28 league contests. Lawler, a third-team honoree last season, paces the Badgers in assists with 26 in all games and her 35 points ties her for third place on the team.
With 15 goals and 28 points in league play this season, senior Jinelle Zaugg earned a spot on the All-WCHA third team. Zaugg, who became Wisconsin's career games played leader late last month and is within striking distance of the UW career goals record, was named second team all-conference last season.
Freshmen forwards Mallory Deluce and Hilary Knight each claimed a spot on the league 's all-rookie team. Deluce, who was named the WCHA Rookie of the Week three times this season, registered eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in league action this season. In all games, Deluce ranks fifth on the team with 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists).
Knight, the WCHA Preseason Rookie of the Year and a two-time Rookie of the Week honoree, finished fourth on the team with 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists) in 28 league games. Knight is tied for third on the team in total points with 35 (19 goals, 16 assists) in 36 contests.
The WCHA also announced on Wednesday that seven Badgers had earned spots on the All-WCHA academic team: Rachel Bible, Maria Evans, Angie Keseley, Emily Morris, Mikka Nordby, Ally Strickler and Vetter.
