Elliott Honored with Big Ten Sportsmanship Award
April 28, 2008 | Women's Golf
University of Wisconsin senior Katie Elliott was honored by the Big Ten Conference Tuesday as a 2008 Sportsmanship award winner. Elliott competed in her final Big Ten Championships over the weekend and she tied for 32nd with a 310 (80-73-81-76).
Elliott, who is a Madison native, was one of 11 sportsmanship winners as the Big Ten honors a golfer from each school. Last year, Elliott was named second team All-Big Ten after her performance at the championship.
Elliott led the Badgers with her 76.7 scoring average and she competed in all 32 rounds of golf that were on Wisconsin's schedule this year. Wisconsin placed sixth at the 2008 Big Ten Championships, which was its best finish since tying for fifth in 2004. The Badgers scored a 1223 (314-292-304-313) and their second round score of 292 was the second lowest tally in school history.
