Women's Golf Releases Fall Schedule
May 15, 2008 | Women's Golf
The University of Wisconsin women's golf team released its Fall 2008 schedule today. The Badgers will partake in five different invitationals throughout the fall, including the annual Badger Invitational at University Ridge.
Wisconsin begins the 2008-09 campaign Sept. 14-16 at the Cougar Classic. College of Charleston hosts the event in Charleston, S.C. and this is a new competition for the Badgers.
Two weeks later, the team hosts its lone home event for the year with the Badger Invitational. Competition begins Sept. 27 at University Ridge and runs through Sept. 28. Last year inclement weather forced the cancellation of the invite's third round so the team is hoping for better weather this coming September.
Wisconsin then hits the road again for the Iowa Invitational Oct. 4-5 in Iowa City, Iowa. The Badgers had one of their best showings of the 2007-08 season at last year 's Iowa Invitational as they placed second out of 14 teams. Katie Elliott, who was a senior this year, won the individual title in 2007 by scoring a career low of 217.
The Badgers then get to test their strength against the rest of the Big Ten at the Lady Northern Invitational on Oct. 18-19. The Lady Northern Invite serves as a precursor to the Big Ten Championships, which are held in April, and this year, defending Big Ten champion, Purdue hosts both competitions.
The fall season concludes right where it started, in Charleston, S.C. The Badgers head back down south Oct. 27-28 for the E. Watts/Palmetto Invitational. Wisconsin tied for eighth out of 20 teams at the event last fall.
