After falling to Bemidji State (1-3-0) on Saturday night, the Wisconsin women's hockey team (2-2-0) bounced back with a 3-1 win over the Beavers Sunday night at the John Glas Fieldhouse in Bemidji, Minn. to salvage a series split.

Bemidji took a 1-0 lead with 16:25 left in the first period after an unfortunate miscue. Goaltender Alannah McCready went to play the puck but it hit off her skate and went to Keirstin Visser's stick from the bottom of the right faceoff circle. She put the puck in the empty net to tally an unassisted goal.

The Badgers were quick to answer. At the point, junior Malee Windmeier passed the puck to sophomore Brittany Haverstock in the right faceoff circle. Haverstock's shot was saved, as was an attempt by junior Mallory Deluce, but junior Kelly Nash then stuffed the puck in from the crease to give UW its first goal on the power play this season and even the score at 1-1.

Despite a 1-1 score going into the second, Wisconsin outshot Bemidji, 22-16 in the first period.

Wisconsin came out of the locker room with plenty of fire, tallying their second goal just 15 seconds into the second period. Sophomore forward Carolyne Prevost forced a turnover at the end boards, setting up Deluce who snapped the puck from the left faceoff circle past BSU's Zuzana Tomcikova to capture the 2-1 lead.

In the third period, the Badgers did not show any signs of slowing down.

Freshman Stefanie McKeough dumped it to the far side to sophomore Brooke Ammerman who took a shot from the bottom of the right face-off circle. Geena Prough took a shot before the the puck poked back into the slot. Freshman Breann Frykas capitalized on the opportunity, flipping the puck past Tomcikova to tally the first goal of her career and solidify the 3-1 victory.

Senior Alannah McCready was in net for the Badgers with 35 saves in 60 minutes of play. Tomcikova finished with 38 saves for Bemidji State.

Wisconsin outshot the Beavers 41-36 in Sunday's contest and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Bemidji was scoreless on the power play, finishing 0-for-5.

Wisconsin takes a week off before hosting Ohio State (0-2-2) in a two-game series at the Kohl Center. The teams will face off at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 24.
