MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's basketball team (8-2 overall, 0-1 Big Ten) returns home on Sunday after a six-game road swing. The Badgers take on SIU Edwardsville (2-8) at 4 p.m. in the Kohl Center.
UW hasn’t played at home since facing Green Bay on Nov. 24. The Badgers host Robert Morris (5-2) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Kohl Center before breaking for finals week and the holidays. Wisconsin takes 13 days off from competition before returning to action on Dec. 28 when it hosts Michigan State at 7 p.m.

Here's a brief overview of each team:
Wisconsin
- Coach Lisa Stone needs only one more win for her 100th victory at Wisconsin. She is 99-94 (.513) in her seventh season at UW. She moved over .500 in winning percentage earlier this season for the first time at Wisconsin, entering the 2009-10 season with a 91-92 mark with the Badgers.
- UW assistant coach Ty Margenthaler played men’s basketball for two seasons at SIU Edwardsville under his father Jack, who was the Cougars head coach from 1992-93 through 2001-02. Margenthaler served as an assistant coach at SIUE for two years, aiding them to an appearnace in the NCAA Division II tournament in 1998-99.
- The Badgers wrapped up their six-game road swing with a 5-1 mark. UW’s only loss came at No. 3 Ohio State on Dec. 6. Wisconsin is now 6-1 away from the Kohl Center, including 4-1 on opponents’ home courts and 2-0 on a neutral court.
- Junior Alyssa Karel scored a season-high 23 points in the Badgers' win at Marquette Friday night, only two points shy of her career best. She leads the Badgers and ranks eighth in the Big Tenw ith 13.5 points per game.
- Junior Tara Steinbauer leads all players in the Big Ten with a free throw percentage of .926. The 6-1 forward is 25-of-27 from the line this season.
- Junior Lin Zastrow leads all players in the league with a field goal percentage of .576. She is 34-of-59 from the field this season.
- Wisconsin gets great scoring in the paint and off its bench. The Badgers tally more than 30 points in the paint per game and nearly 17 points per game off their bench. Opponents average only 18.4 points in the paint and 10.2 points off the bench.
SIU Edwardsville
- SIU Edwardsville is 2-8 on the season, losing it last two games. SIUE lost at Wichita State, 68-58, this past Friday. The Cougars won their season opener but lost six in a row before downing UMKC on Dec. 2.
- Edwardsville is in the second year of a five-year transition to the NCAA Division I level. The Cougars will be eligible to compete in post-season play in 2012.
- The Cougars have yet to win a game on the road this season, going 0-6 away from the Vadalabene Center. SIUE is 0-5 in away games and 0-1 in games on a neutral court.
- Edwardsville is struggling on offense, hitting just 32.3 percent from the field this season. The Cougars average 58.8 points per game while giving up 69.5 points per game. SIUE is also getting outrebounded 44.4 to 37.6.
- Freshman Raven Berry, a 6-1 forward, comes off the bench to lead SIUE with 13.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. She shoots a team-best 46.1 percent from the field. Berry also shoots the most free throws on the team, going 39-of-55 from the charity stripe. She did not play in Friday night’s loss at Wichita State.
- Sophomore Melia Duncan, a 5-8 guard, chips in 12.0 points per game. Duncan has made a team-best 23 3-pointers, shooting 39.0 percent from behind the arc.
- Senior Ashley Bey, a 5-5 guard, runs the Cougar offense, averaging 4.3 assists and 3.2 steals per game. Bey ranks third on the team with 9.2 points per game. She also pulls down 4.3 rebounds per game.
- Freshman Danielle Bennett, a 5-11 forward, averages 7.1 points per game, hitting 12 3-pointers on the season.
