
Meet the newcomers: Mary Ording

Here is your chance to meet the new members of the Badger volleyball team. UWBadgers.com asked the 2009 newcomers about their first week of training camp and their experiences as the newest Badgers.
In today's Q&A, meet athid=66046&deptid=133"> --> Mary Ording from Carmel, Ind. A 6-2 middle blocker, Ording won two national titles in 2009. With Municiana Volleyball Club, the Samurai won the AAU and JVDA national titles. Ording was named a 2009 AAU All-American and was selected to the 2009 JVDA all-tournament team. She was also a 2009 Volleyball Fab 50 selection. Ording graduated from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, aiding the Fighting Irish to the 2008 and 2006 Indiana state 4A titles. Ording was a two-time first-team all-state honoree.
Fans can get a preview of the 2009 Badger team Saturday at the Volleyball Fan Fest and intrasquad scrimmage in the UW Field House. This free event is open to everyone.
The fun begins at 5 p.m. with the fan fest. Kids can participate in a variety of on-court and off-the-court activities with the Badgers. Coach Pete Waite answers questions from the crowd at 6 p.m. while the team warms up for a Cardinal vs. White intrasquad scrimmage at 6:30 p.m.

What have you enjoyed the most about Madison so far'
I have enjoyed getting to know the campus and the team better.
How has training camp been for you so far ' What has been the biggest difference from high school/club'
Training camp has been very fun, but the game is a lot faster than I'm used to.
What have you been most impressed with the coaches'
The coaches are super patient with us and take a lot of time to explain things to us.
What do you think of your teammates and the team chemistry'
I really love the team and the girls are so open and accepting. It is really awesome to be a part of the team.
What has been the biggest surprise so far with college volleyball and or the whole college experience'
The amount of laundry I can make in one day!
What class are you most excited for and why'
I'm most excited for my sociology class and music class because I have it with a lot of the team
What are you missing the most from home '
My parents.
Now that the first week of practice is out of the way, have things settled down' What are you most excited about in the next week or two'
I'm very excited about the Cardinal vs. White scrimmage and moving into the dorms!
What team are you looking forward to playing and why'
I'm really excited about most of the Big Ten, because I have a lot of friends and old teammates on various teams.
