The Wisconsin men's and women's cross country teams will officially cut the ribbon on the brand new Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course at University Ridge on October 3rd at the inaugural Wisconsin adidas Invitational.
The Wisconsin adidas Invitational will feature several elite cross country programs and unattached/open/club athletes. Collegiate teams scheduled to participate include: Arkansas, Auburn, Brigham Young, Duke, Georgetown, Illinois, Iowa, Lamar, Marquette, Michigan, Nebraska, Syracuse, Texas A&M, UW-La Crosse and Wisconsin.
In addition, the meet will feature several boys and girls high schools programs from all over the state of Wisconsin, including: Aquinas (B&G); Arrowhead (B); Brodhead (B&G); Brookfield Central (B); Cadott (B&G); Edgar (G); Homestead (B&G); Horicon (B&G); Janesville Craig (B&G); Madison East (B&G); Madison West (B&G); Marshall (B&G); Middleton (B&G); Onalaska (B&G); Port Washington (B&G); Random Lake (B&G); Richland Center (B&G); Verona (B); Waukesha South (G) and Waunakee (B&G).
The men will be running an eight-kilometer race beginning at 11 a.m. and the women will be competing in a five-kilometer race beginning at 11:45 a.m. A Wisconsin cross country/track alumni 5k run will be held at 12:15 p.m. The boys (5k) and girls (4k) high school races will begin at 12:45 p.m.
The Thomas Zimmer Championship Course is quickly garnering praise as one of the nation 's top cross country courses. Featuring a challenging and exciting terrain for runners, the course also offers elevated viewing and pedestrian paths for spectators.
Located adjacent to the University Ridge golf course, the Zimmer Course features an exterior loop of approximately 2,500 meters and an interior loop of 1,000 meters. Both loops cover the area's rolling hills and valleys, while the outside loop also runs through a section of dense woods, which are aflame with color in the fall.
Parking information
There is limited parking available on site and it will be reserved for college teams traveling by van and event officials only. For college teams travelling by bus and all high school teams, the athletes can be dropped off at the cross country course entrance, however all buses must park at another site due to parking restrictions.
Collegiate bus parking and all high school team parking will be located at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Directions: Take a right at the exit to University Ridge. Drive 1.5 miles. The church is located on the left. When entering the parking lot, park on the right.

There will be no on-site parking for spectators. Off-site parking is available at the Verona Area School District buildings, approximately two miles south of the Zimmer Cross Country Course on Hwy M. Round trip shuttle buses will be provided for a $5 fee per person. There is no parking on County roads M and PD. Violators will be ticketed and towed.

Directions to the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country course
The Thomas Zimmer course is located eight miles southwest of Madison, Wis., which is served by several major airlines and two major interstates. The course is adjacent to University Ridge golf course on the northwest corner of County Road PD and County Road M.
From Interstate 90/39, take exit 142a onto Hwy 12/18 heading west. After nine miles, take exit 258 (Hwy 18/151, Verona Rd.) and turn left onto Verona Road. After two miles, turn right onto County Road PD. The entrance to University Ridge and the Zimmer course is three miles down on the right side of the road.
From the west side of Madison, take Mineral Point Road west beyond the Beltline, then turn south on M. Go right at the intersection with PD to the course entrance.
