Sophomore Laurie Nosbusch found the back of the net in the 88th minute to give the Badgers a 3-2 win over No. 19 Indiana Sunday afternoon at the McClimon Soccer Complex. Nosbusch's game-winning goal capped off her first career hat trick which also marked her first goals of the season.

'I'm really happy for Laurie to finally find the back of the net, this will help her confidence heading into the rest of the Big Ten season,' Wilkins said. 'I always tell the team, `Big players do big things in big games,' and Laurie did that today.'

The win marks the first over a ranked opponent under third-year head coach Paula Wilkins. The Badgers improve to 5-4-1 and 1-0-1 in the Big Ten while Indiana falls to 8-3 and 0-2 in conference play. Wisconsin remains unbeaten on its home field, going 5-0-2 at McClimon.

'It is really exciting to get a win over a nationally ranked team,' said Wilkins. 'Indiana is well coached and they had a really good non-conference season. This win is big for our players and building their confidence.'

The first half was scoreless as the Hoosiers outshot Wisconsin 9-1. UW's Michele Dalton made four saves to keep Indiana off the board early.

The second half played a lot differently with a combined five goals scored. Wisconsin got on the board first in the 53rd minute when Nosbusch took a short shot from the far post off the rebound of Monica Lam-Feist's shot.

Twenty minutes later, Nosbusch punched in her second goal to give the Badgers the 2-0 lead off a cross from Lauren Cochlin from the near corner. The Badgers lead didn't last long. Indiana responded in the 77th and 80th minute with back-to-back goals to knot the score at two.

Sophmore Devon Beach had a header at the far post off a cross from Carly Samp who was on the near side for Indiana. Three minutes later Samp put in a goal of her own with a short range blast with Beach on the assist.

Nosbusch completed her hat trick with a short shot off a rebound to beat IU's keeper, Lex Dickison high. The goal came at the 87:49 mark when Lam-Feist put up a shot off the corner kick before Nosbusch put it in.

For the first time this season Wisconsin scored three goals in a game, two of which were not on restarts, which is also a first this season.

Indiana outshot the Badgers 17-12, however UW had a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. Dalton picked up six saves in the win, while Dickison had three in her first collegiate start.

Wisconsin continues its homestand this week when border battle rival Minnesota comes to town on Thursday night. The Badgers will then head to Iowa on Sunday. The game will air live on the Big Ten Network.
