
No. 4 Wisconsin meets No. 5 Baylor in NCAA Tournament Second Round

Wisconsin seeks its second straight trip to the Sweet 16.
MADISON, Wis.- The No. 4-seeded Wisconsin women's soccer team is set to face the No. 5-seeded Baylor Bears in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. (CT) at Alumni Stadium in South Bend Indiana. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers face the Bears:
1. SEASON RECAP:
Wisconsin heads into round two with a 14-5-2 overall record (7-4-2 B1G), averaging 1.57 goals per game on 12.8 shots. They led by midfielder Erin Connolly who has netted nine goals this season- tied for third-most in the Big Ten.
Supporting the attack is forward Adee Boer, who contributed a goal in the first round of the tournament and also found the back of the net during the Big Ten Tournament. She has tallied seven goals on the season.
On the defensive end goalkeeper Drew Stover has collected 61 saves and 10 shutouts. Stover has played 1890 minutes which is good for second in conference and is posting a 76.2 save percentage. She tied her career high in saves against No. 9 UCLA (Oct. 9) and matched a program record with four consecutive clean sheets from Oct. 4–16.
2. SCOUTING THE BEARS:
The Badgers and Bears have met three times in program history, with Wisconsin holding a 2-0-1 advantage. The most recent match up came in the 2022 season, ending in a 2-0 win.
Under fourth-year head coach Michelle Lenard, the Bears enter with a 13-4-4 record. Baylor reached the Big 12 Championship match before falling to BYU and advanced to the second round with a 3-0 win over Texas State.
Senior Tyler Isgrig leads the Baylor offense with nine goals on 54 shots, posting a .429 shot-on-goal percentage. Goalkeeper Azul Alvarez has allowed just 17 goals this season while making 81 saves, earning a .827 save percentage.
3. TOURNAMENT HISTORY:
This marks Wisconsin's third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and 26th overall. Last season, the Badgers reached the Sweet 16, defeating Maine and Virginia before falling to top-seeded USC.
In this year's opening round, Wisconsin defeated Western Michigan 3–2.
Erin Connolly scored twice—first converting a penalty in the 58th minute, then again in the 72nd to give UW a 2–1 lead.
Adee Boer added what became the game-winner in the 80th minute for a 3–1 advantage.
Western Michigan scored in the 81st, but the Badgers held strong to secure the win.
