
Severe weather delays Lady Northern Invitational

The Lady Northern golf tournament held Sunday and Monday at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis., was delayed during the second of two rounds on the opening day. Severe weather threatened the Madison area and the golfers were called off the course at approximately 5:15 p.m. CDT.
The completion of round 2 will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the third round beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday morning. Instead of re-pairing for round 3, the players will keep the same pairings that they had for rounds 1 and 2.
Ohio State finished the first round in first place with a 5-under-par of 283. After the first 18-holes of play, Purdue tallied a score of 291 to take the second place position and Michigan State is only one stroke behind with a score of 292 to capture the third place slot.
Both Maude-Aimee LeBlanc of Purdue and Amy White of Ohio State lead the tournament after round 1 with a 4-under-par of 68. Iowa State's Pennapa Pulsawath and Ohio State 's Rachel Rohanna were the only other golfers under par for the first round tallying a 70 to share the third place.
Wisconsin is tied for sixth place on its home course with the University of Illinois after the first 18-holes with a score of 300.
Junior Carly Werwie (Kenosha, Wis.) and freshman Alyssa Elliott (Madison, Wis.) lead the Badgers at the end of round 1, tied for 15th with a 2-over-par score of 74. Werwie was 1-under-par on holes 10 and 16 to give her two birdies. Elliot balanced out a few tough holes with four birdies on Nos. 1,3,6 and 10.
Fellow Badgers, sophomore Jessie Gerry (Madison, Wis.) and freshman Lindsey Danielson (Osceola, Wis.) in her college debut tied for 28th after the first 18-holes with a score of 76.
Seniors Molly Schemm (Ft. Atkinson, Wis.) finished round 1 with a 6-over-par of 78 tying for 45th and Kelsey Verbeten (Green Bay, Wis.) commenced the first 18-holes tied for 61st, tallying a score of 80.
