Badgers tie for fifth at Renaissance Invitational

Fort Meyers, Fla. – Wisconsin’s men’s golf team had its best finish in three tournaments this fall tying Georgetown for fifth place at the Renaissance Invitational with a 295-296-290-881. Host Xavier University won the event with a 54-hole score of 857, defeating Florida Gulf Coast University by three strokes. Ball State (870) finished in third place, and Marshall (880) finished in fourth.
Xavier’s Sebastian MacLean took home medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 209, narrowly defeating Georgetown’s Curits Loop by one stroke. The two were tied going into the final round. Xavier’s Peter O’Neill finished third with a 212.
Wisconsin’s Stephane Dubois and Michael Sorenson both tied for 15th with a two-over-par 218. DuBois shot a 75-69-74—218 and Sorenson shot a 69-78-71—218.
Anthony Aicher finished tied for 21st with a 73-72-75—220. Christopher Meyer finished tied for 38th after carding a 78-77-71—226. And playing in his first collegiate event, Eric Schremp shot a career best 74 in the final round to finish tied for 64th with a 237.
Next up for the Badgers is the Alister Mackenzie Invitational hosted by Cal at The Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif. on Oct. 18-19.
