
Badgers 11th after opening day of Big Ten Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. – Wisconsin is in 11th place after 36 holes the 72-hole Big Ten Championships at the par 72, 7,465 yard Kampen Course. After shooting an opening round 312, the Badge improved with a 293 in round two to finish the day at a 29-over par 605.
Defending champion Illinois has a five stroke lead on the rest of the field, shooting a 5-over par 293-288=581. Iowa is in second after shooting a 586, followed by Penn State (591) and Michigan (592.)
Iowa’s Chris Brant shot a 5-under par 67-72=139 to hold the individual lead. Michigan State’s Chris Mory and Illinois’ Luke Guthrie are four strokes off the pace.
Stephane Dubois leads the Badgers, shooting a 4-over par 76-72=148. The freshman, one of three Badgers playing in their inaugural Big Ten Championships, is tied for 18th place. Christopher Meyer is second among Badgers, carding a 6-over 78-72=150, tying for 27th.
Robert Jacobsen shot a 9-over par 78-75=153, good for a tie for 36th place. Anthony Aicher recorded a 13-over par 80-77=157, finishing tied for 48th. Thomas Welk withdrew in round one, and shot a 2-over par 74 in round two.
The Big Ten Championships will continue with 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday. Play on Saturday starts at 8 a.m. (CT).
