MADISON, Wis. -- Coach Lisa Stone has announced the signing of four athletes to National Letters of Intent to play women's basketball at the University of Wisconsin beginning in 2011-12. Nicole Emblad from St. Ignace, Mich.; Lacia Gorman from Fort Wayne, Ind.; Jacki Gulczynski from Carol Stream, Ill.; and Lindsay Smith from DeWitt, Iowa, will join the Badgers next season.

"These four women are, in my opinion, one of our top recruiting classes," said Stone. "They have multi-dimensional abilities, both offensively and defensively. They're unbelievable students, their families are terrific, they fit in with our current players seamlessly. They can't wait to be Badgers and I can't wait to have them here."

Nicole Elmblad

Elmblad, a 5-foot-11-inch guard, averaged 25.7 points per game as a junior, earning Upper Peninsula Player of the Year honors. She was first-team all-state as a junior after earning second-team all-state honors as a sophomore and special mention all-state as a freshman. Elmblad is a two-time first-team all-conference selection and two-time conference MVP. She led LaSalle High School to the state runner-up finish as a junior and three conference titles. Elmblad was named to the 2010 All-U.P. Dream Team and the U.P. Player of the Year.

Lacia Gorman

Gorman, a 5-7 point guard, earned honorable mention all-state honors in 2009-10. She was a first-team all-state underclassman and junior all-star core team last season. She has earned Daily Herald Player of the Week honors all three seasons as well as Walter Payton Roundhouse Player of the Week and Player of the Month all three years. Gulczynski is a two-time team most valuable player, guiding the Hawks to the state sectional finals in 2010.

Smith, a 5-10 guard, earned all-state honors as a junior at Central DeWitt High School. She is a three-time first-team all-conference honoree and three-time team captain.
