Player of the Game I
Senior Tara Steinbauer recorded her third double-double of the season and eighth of her career. The 6-0 forward shared game-high honors with 17 points and led all players with 10 rebounds. Steinbauer had five rebounds in the first four minutes of the game. Steinbauer led an 8-2 Badger run in the second half, scoring eight straight points to give Wisconsin a 52-41 lead with 7:52 to play.
Player of the game II
Senior Lin Zastrow shared game-high honors with 17 points, including shooting 7-of-7 from the free throw line. The 6-4 post was 5-of-10 from the field and added a season-high nine rebounds. Zastrow also dished off one assist while blocking one shot in 33 minutes.
Stat of the Game I
Wisconsin was called for only nine fouls while Milwaukee was whistled for 17 fouls. The Badgers went to the line 17 times, making 15 for a season-high 88.2 percent. The Panthers were just 4-of-5 from the line for 80 percent.
Stat of the Game II
The Badgers outrebounded the Panthers 38-23, the second-largest rebounding margin by Wisconsin this season. Senior Tara Steinbauer led all players with 10 boards while senior Lin Zastrow added nine rebounds. Sophomore Taylor Wurtz chipped in eight caroms.
Turning Point
Wisconsin broke open the game with a little over 10 minutes to play. The Badgers led 42-39 before going on a 10-2 run to take a 52-41 lead with 7:52 to play. Steinbauer led the way with eight straight points in the paint.
Notables
- Senior Lin Zastrow has made 10 free throws in a row after going 7-for-7 from the line today. She made her last three free throws at Drake on Wednesday.
- Alyssa Karel has made eight straight free throws, dating back to the Drake game. Karel was 7-for-8 at Drake and 1-for-1 from the line today.
- Wisconsin held Milwaukee scoreless from the field for 9:42 from the end of the first half to midway through the second half. The Panther did not score a field goal from 2:53 remaining in the first half to 13:11 left to go in the game.
- Sophomore Tiera Stephen scored her first field goal late in the game when she had a steal and went in for a layup with just nine seconds to play.
- Wisconsin improves to 2-3 at home this season with the win.
- The Badgers have won two games in a row for the second time this season. Wisconsin opened the season 2-0 win wins at Saint Louis and at home vs. William & Mary.
