Fall Season in Review
The Wisconsin women's tennis team competed in four tournaments during the 2010 fall slate. Two freshmen saw their first collegiate action, while five returners continued to work on their game. The Badgers return to the courts for the 2011 regular season Jan. 22, 2011.
2010 Fall wrap-up
Overall, the Badgers went 38-29 in singles play during the fall season for a .567 winning percentage. Freshmen Nicky Stracar led the team with nine singles wins at 9-4, while fellow newcomer Jenny Hois was 7-4. Wisconsin opened the fall season at the Duke Invitational where the team was led by Berner's sixth place finish in her section. Hois then led the Badgers with a 4-0 record at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by conference foe Northwestern. UW finished 17-7 at the invitational, marking the program's best fall tournament result under head coach Brian Fleishman.
At the ITA Midwest Regional Championship, the Badgers advanced three players to compete in the singles main draw. Markovic and Stracar joined Trgovich in the main draw after advancing past the singles qualifying draw. Chupa and Lauren Gruber also competed for UW in the qualifying round.
The Badgers concluded the fall season at the WMU Super Challenge Invitational, where they posted an 8-4 record in singles play led by Hois' 3-0 mark.
2011 Schedule
The Badgers look to improve upon last season's finish after losing in the quarterfinals of the 2010 Big Ten Tournament. This season, UW faces 10 teams that competed in the 2010 NCAA team championship, including three that advanced to last year's round of 16.
Wisconsin welcomes Green Bay, Northern Illinois, Evansville, Illinois-Chicago, Western Illinois, Milwaukee, Marquette, Northern Iowa, and UW-Whitewater, along with Big Ten rivals Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa and Illinois to Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
For the first time in 23 years, the Badgers will not host the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Team Indoor Championships.
