MADISON, Wis. -- A string of four goals in as many matches earned Chris Prince, an incoming freshman for the Wisconsin men's soccer team, U.S. Soccer Develop Academy Under-17/18 Player of the Week honors for the week of April 26.
Prince, of Naperville, Ill., earned the national distinction for his play with the Chicago Fire Academy U-17/18 squad.
The forward scored twice in a 5-1 win over Real Colorado on April 17 and added another tally in a 1-1 draw with the Colorado Rush on April 18.
He also assisted on a score in Chicago's 4-0 win over the Kansas City Wizards Academy squad on April 25.
The Fire, which also includes UW signee Trevor Wheeler, is riding a six-match unbeaten streak in Frontier Division play and is 4-1-2 in its last seven matches overall.
Prince's season also includes a goal for a mixed U-18/U-16 squad the Fire fielded in a 4-0 win over the U.S. U-17 National Team in March.
An original member of the Fire's Academy program since its inception in 2007, Prince was named a Region II All-Star in the U-16 division last year after scoring 12 goals.
Prince wrapped up his high school career as an NSCAA All-American last fall, when he also picked up all-state honors and was named the Chicago Sun Times' 2009 Player of the Year.
