
Women's golf team opens season at South Carolina

Charleston, S.C. - The Badger women's golf team opened its fall season at the 54-hole Cougar Classic being held Sept. 12-14 at Yeamans Hall Golf Club in Hanahan, S.C.
After 18 holes, Tarheel Courtney Gunter, one of eight players to shoot under par on the day, fired a 69 to lead the tournament. UCF's Katie Detlefsen and Florida's Mia Piccio are tied for second with a 70 each.
North Carolina is first with a three-under par 285 after the first 18 holes, while Minnesota is second, four strokes behind. The Badgers are 13th with a 13-over par 303.
Sophomore Lindsay Danielson leads UW with a two-over-par 74. Redshirt sophomore Ellie Arkin is tied for 38th with a 75; sophomore Alyssa Elliott, junior Carly Werwie and freshman Kris Yoo in her collegiate debut are all tied at 60th with 77s.
The tournament will conclude with 18 holes each on Monday and Tuesday. For live stats go to golfstat.com.
