Coach Pete Waite

Opening Statement - "That was a good win, that's a very good defensive team. There was some nice athletes on that team, and I thought we did well on some areas, back row (technique) I thought was better then what we've been doing. Hitting percentage was not quite as high as we'd like and obviously, we started the first set with five service errors, which is not good. After that I think we improved on that and kept our errors down. Actually I think we served well enough to keep them out of their offense quite a bit, which helped out our defense."

On the improvement in the Badger defense "There was a few great shots to the corner that we did not get but I thought other than that, there were some great scramble plays. This is a good sign for a team to be making those plays and getting those digs, while keeping the other team from scoring."

On the improved passing this season "I think our passing was very solid - Allison (Wack), Kim (Kuzma) and Annemarie (Hickey) are doing well and Lindsey (Seil) was in there helping them out too. Reception errors were zero, which is very good. It helps your offense and gives no free points for the other team."

Senior Allison Wack

"I think starting our first match at home really helped, I mean I missed my first serve but I think there was just some jitters going on. Once we got through that, we were really meshing and were digging a lot of balls. We worked a lot on blocking this week and I think our blockers did a great job, just getting hands on a lot of balls which can give us a little more confidence coming into our next couple matches."

"A couple people really stepped up tonight and like we said, the freshman had a lot of the jitters playing in front of our home crowd. I think we did a really good job at keeping them calm and showing them how we do things."

Sophomore Alexis Mitchell

"As a freshman I was a little bit nervous coming out on the court, and now being a sophomore I feel a lot more composed and I feel like I can score and do what I need to do for my team."

Junior Janelle Gabrielsen

"I like to run different plays, throw the defense off, set different balls for our hitters to get them up and away."
