Danielson surges, Badgers in eighth place

MADISON, Wis. --The Wisconsin women’s golf team slipped two spots following the second round of the 54-hole Susie Berning Maxwell Classic Monday, but remained among the top 10, finishing the day in eighth place.
Shooting a 301 Monday, the Badgers stand 22 shots over par through 36 holes, 27 strokes behind the leader Texas A&M. The Aggies are the only team under par at -5, with Florida State and Oklahoma both seven shots off the lead at +2.
Individually, junior Lindsay Danielson surged in the second round, jumping from 22nd to 11th with a 1-under 71. Danielson (74-71=145) now sits one shot over par for the tournament.
Sophomore Kris Yoo, who had her second best career round in the first 18 with a 70, shot a +5, 77 day two, bringing her to a 3-over par 147.
Meanwhile senior Jessie Gerry shot a 76 Monday, to bring her 36-hole total to a 73-76=149 through two rounds, 7 over par and good for 28th place.
Freshman Aaren Ziegler added a +8, 80 to her first round 80 to place 81st. Fellow freshman Kimberly Dinh jumped three spots Monday, finishing 36 holes in 84th place after a +5, 77 performance in the second round. The score was a seven-shot improvement over her first round.
Oklahoma’s Anne Tanguay took advantage of a 5-under 67 Monday to surge into 1st place with a 5-under par 72-67--139. Florida State’s Laure Castelain and the individual leader through 18 holes, Kimberly Kaufman of Texas Tech, both sit one stroke off the lead at 4-under 140.
