MADISON, Wis. -- The Badgers have saved the best for last.
Wisconsin rounds out fall season play as the team takes on some of the toughest competition all year in Austin, Texas, Oct. 31- Nov. 2 at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational.
Ten of the top 50 teams in the country, according to GolfWeek/Sagarin rankings, will compete in the 38th annual tournament, held at the University of Texas Golf Club.
The 54-hole tournament also features three teams in the top 15—No. 5 Oklahoma State, No. 10 Florida and the host, No. 14 Texas.
The tournament will be the second straight for Wisconsin hosted at a Big 12 school. The Badgers are fresh off a seventh place finish two weeks ago at the Susie Berning Maxwell Classic at the University of Oklahoma.
Senior Jessie Gerry leads the Badgers into Austin, carrying the lowest single-round average on the team this season at 74.83. Gerry has been the top performer for Wisconsin in all but the first tournament this season (a second place finish).
Just behind Gerry is junior Lindsay Danielson, averaging an even 75.0 per round. Danielson holds the team’s lowest single round score—a 69 in the first round of the Badger Invitational Sept. 25.
Also traveling for the Badgers is sophomore Kris Yoo, who shot a career-best three-round total 225 at the Maxwell Classic two weeks ago.
Two freshmen, Kimberly Dinh and Aaren Ziegler round out the roster. It will be the fourth tournament for Dinh and the third for Ziegler in their collegiate careers.
The Badgers will take on some of the best individual talent in the country as well. Five of the top 30 individuals in the country will compete in Austin, including Tulsa’s No. 18 Kristina Merkle and Texas’ No. 20 Nicole Vandermade.
The tournament tees off with 18 holes Monday, followed by 18 holes each on Tuesday and Wednesday.
