BOULDER, Colo. -- Despite a season-low 13 turnovers, the Wisconsin women’s basketball team lost the championship game of the Omni Classic to Colorado 58-48 on Saturday night. The loss drops the Badgers to 2-5 on the season.

Junior Taylor Wurtz earned all-tournament honors after leading the Badgers with 13 points, her seventh game this season in double-figure scoring, and seven rebounds. It is Wurtz’s first all-tournament honor of her career.
Senior Jade Davis added 10 points and senior Anya Covington chipped in nine points as the Badgers shot 33.3 percent (16-of-48) from the field, including 35.7 percent (5-of-14) from behind the arc.
The Buffs had three players in double figure scoring, led by all-tournament selection Lexy Kresl with 16 points. Tournament MVP Chucky Jeffery added 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Colorado outrebounded Wisconsin 46-27, the UW’s largest rebounding deficit this season.
CU didn’t shoot much better than Wisconsin from the field, hitting 33.9 percent (19-of-56) and just 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from 3-point land. The Buffs made 16-of-19 from behind the line (84.2 percent) while the Badgers hit 11-of-14 (78.6 percent). Colorado also turned the ball over 14 times, the first time UW has had fewer turnovers than its opponent this season.
The Buffs broke a 2-2 tie, scoring six straight points to go up 8-2 with 14:45 to play in the half. The Badgers trailed by nine (13-4) at the 12:41 mark but outscored Colorado 8-2 over the next three minutes to pull within three at 15-12. Wurtz hit a 3-pointer with 9:25 to play, capping the run.
Wisconsin pulled with two points twice (19-17 at 6:11 and 21-19 at 5:37) but Colorado went on a 10-2 run late in the half to lead 31-21 with 1:40 remaining. Cassie Rochel scored a layin with four seconds left for the halftime score of 31-23.
In the second half, the Badgers scored the first bucket but the Buffs scored six-straight points to go up 37-26 with 17:13 to play in the game. UW cut the lead to seven (37-30) but CU got its lead back up to 12 points with a 5-0 run to lead 42-30 with 14:44 to go.
Colorado led by 16 points three times late in the second half, including at 57-41 with 1:47 to play. The Badgers scored three more buckets, including two by Covington, for the final score of 58-48.
Wisconsin returns home on Wednesday, hosting Boston College at 7 p.m., as part of the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.
