
Badgers improve in finals of Hooters Team Championship

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- In the third and final round of the 2011 Hooters Women’s Collegiate Team Championship at Achasta, By Reynolds, Lindsay Danielson and Alyssa Elliott shot an aggregate score of 151 to tie for 17th place.
The pair were 4-under and tied for ninth going into the final round finishing with a 3-over par 73-67-151-291. The three-day tournament included 54 teams in all three NCAA divisions. See the final results here.
Also representing Wisconsin were Jessie Gerry and Ellie Arkin who shot a better aggregate score than their teammates but remained tied at 23rd with a 5-over par 76-69-148--292.
Lindsey Solberg/Caroline Powers from Michigan State University rode a one-under-par 143 to a one shot victory. The Spartan duo finished the tournament at 12-under-par. Vanderbilt’s Marina Alex/Lauren Stratton had a one shot lead going to into the 18th hole, but they carded two bogeys falling into a second place tie with Virginia’s Elizabeth Brightwell/Portland Rosen. Both second place teams shot an even par 144 for the Aggregate score final round to finish the tournament at eleven-under-par each.
Chelsea Harris/Christie Cardwell of the University of Iowa shot the low round of the day shooting a six-under-par 138. The strong finish helped the Hawkeye tandem jump into fourth place with a final score of nine-under-par.
This is the second year Wisconsin has sent two pairs to the tournament. Last year the duo of Danielson and Elliott slipped from fifth after the second round to 19th after the third and final round. The then-sophomores finished the third round with a combined score of 160 to finish at 9-over par for the tournament with a 297. They shot a 7-under par 70-67--137 in the second round to rank among the top five teams. Arkin and Carly Werwie, finished 33rd with a 25-over par 83-71-162--311.
The format of the Championship was Day 1 (Aug. 2): Alternate Shot; Day 2 (Aug. 3): Best Ball; and Day 3 (Aug. 4): Aggregate Score of the two players.
