MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin volleyball team saw its winning streak end Saturday night, falling to Notre Dame in the championship match of the 20th annual InnTowner Invitational at the UW Field House.
The Badgers were swept by the Fighting Irish 25-22, 25-22, 25-23 to fall to 8-4 on the season.

Freshman Ellen Chapman had 10 kills to lead Wisconsin for the second straight match, earning her first all-tournament honor. Freshman Courtney Thomas, who also earned all-tournament honors, finished with nine kills.
Poor hitting cost the Badgers as they had 22 errors to hit .180 (42 kills – 22 errors – 111 attempts) as a team. The Irish (7-3) only committed 10 errors to hit .272 (41-10-114) overall.
Toni Alugbue also finished with 10 scores and hit .667 for the Irish. Notre Dame outblocked Wisconsin 6-2 but the Badgers outdug the Irish 54-43. Sophomore Annemarie Hickey led all players with 24 digs, while Frenchy Silva finished with 14 saves for Notre Dame.
The Badgers kept three UND players to negative hitting percentages in the first set, which helped them rally and lead by as many as four points (17-13) before one of UW's five errors in the opening set started a 5-0 Notre Dame run to give the Irish an 18-17 lead. UW rallied to tie the set at 18 and 19 off kills from Thomas and Chapman but Notre Dame scored the next two points to take the lead for good.
After falling behind 6-0 to start the second frame, the Badgers responded with a 9-0 run to lead 9-6. Chapman and sophomore Dominique Thompson both had two kills during the rally. Wisconsin held the lead until Notre Dame went on a 7-0 run to take a 24-20 lead. The Badgers held off two set points but a kill from Alugbue put the Irish up two sets to none.
The Badgers trailed in the third set as well as the Irish rolled out to a 7-0 lead. Wisconsin slowly worked its way back into the set and held off two match points for the Irish but Notre Dame prevailed with a 25-23 win.
Wisconsin opens Big Ten Conference play on Friday when it hosts Northwestern at 7 p.m.
