PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Three Badgers were among the 36 golfers named as Big Ten Women's Golfers to Watch by the Big Ten Conference office.
Senior Jessie Gerry of Madison, Wis.; junior Lindsay Danielson of Osceola, Wis.; and sophomore Kris Yoo of Schaumburg, Ill., were all part of the roster submitted by the conference coaches.
All three are in the lineup for the Badgers' season opener at the Cougar Classic Sept. 11-13 in Charleston, SC. Also joining the trio are junior Alyssa Elliott of Madison, Wis., and senior Ellie Arkin of Reedsburg, Wis.
The Badgers are coming off an NCAA selection last spring, and hope to gain on the momentum established when they were selected as the No. 18 team among the 24 teams and six individuals invited to the 54-hole NCAA Central Regional May 5-7 held at the Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind. It was the first regional for UW since 2003.
The successful 2010-11 season also included six top-five finishes and two tournament victories. Wisconsin won tournaments at the Badger Invitational and the BYU at Entrada Classic. Coach Todd Oehrlein was named the Big Ten Co-Coach of the Year after his team placed fourth at the conference meet and was chosen for the NCAA Central Regional.
The Big Ten women’s golf season officially begins this weekend, as nine of the 12 conference teams take to the course for the first time of the fall season.
