IOWA CITY, Iowa. -- An impressive second half propelled Iowa to a 69-57 win over the Wisconsin women's basketball team at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday night. Wisconsin led 28-27 at the half, but Iowa outscored the Badgers 42-29 in the second half for the win. The Hawkeyes shot 66.7 percent (14-of-21) in the second period while Wisconsin hit just 34.4 percent (11-of-32) of its shots in the half.

The score was tied at 47 with 10:52 left in the game when the Hawkeyes went on at 14-0 run to take a 61-47 lead with 5:15 to play. The five-minute scoring drought by the Badgers finally ended when freshman Jacki Gulczynski came off the bench to score a layup with 4:51 to go.
The Hawkeyes tallied their biggest lead of the game with 4:24 to play, leading 64-49, but Morgan Paige, who scored a career-high 20 points, hit two 3-pointers with a little over two minutes to play, cutting the Hawkeye lead to nine (64-55). Wisconsin (5-13, -15) missed three late shots as Iowa improved to 11-8 overall, 3-3 in the Big Ten Conference.
Paige went 6-of-10 from 3-point range, which ranks second on the UW single-game record list for 3-pointers made. The Badgers made 10 3-pointers as a team, just one trey off Wisconsin's school record. Taylor Wurtz added 12 points and Anya Covington 10 points for the Badgers.
The Badgers shot just 38.6 percent (22-of-57) for the game while Iowa hit 50 percent (24-of-48) of its shots. Wisconsin was just 3-of-6 (50 percent) from the free throw line, a season low for makes and attempts, while Iowa was 16-of-16 from the charity stripe.
Jaime Printy led all scorers with 25 points while Kamille Wahlin added 15 points for the Hawkeyes.
Wisconsin was outrebounded 41-19, the second-lowest single-game rebounding total in UW history.
The Badgers had a season-high 11 steals to force 24 turnovers by Iowa, a season high for a UW opponent this season. Wisconsin scored 22 points off turnovers.
Wisconsin trailed 18-9 with 9:09 to play in the first half before Wurtz and Paige both hit two 3-pointers to lead a 19-3 run by the Badgers, giving them their biggest lead of the game at 28-21 with 3:38 to play. The Hawkeyes scored six straight points to end the half, trailing only by one, 28-27.
Iowa continued its strong play at the start of the second period, outscoring Wisconsin 10-2 to take a 37-30 lead with 15:55 on the clock. The Badgers tied the score at 40 with 13:01 to play off a layin from Anya Covington. UW kept the score close through 47-47 before Iowa pulled away.
UW returns home to host Northwestern on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Kohl Center.
