Player of the Game
Freshman Lacia Gorman tied her career high with nine points. The 5-5 guard was 4-of-5 (80 percent) from the field, including 1-of-1 from 3-point range. She also added one assist in 19 minutes of play.
Gorman scored two field goals late in the first half of play to cut the Spartans lead to nine at the half. She hit a jumper with 1:52 to play and another with 1:06 remaining in the half to make the score 31-22. Gorman hit the Badgers’ first 3-pointer of the game, connecting on a long ball with 10:33 left to play in the game.
Play of the Game
With 2:18 remaining, Tiera Stephen stole the ball at half court and under pressure, brought the ball up to the free throw line. She hit Lindsay Smith with a great bounce pass as Smith was driving to the bucket to score the layin, making the score 58-41.
Turning Point
The Spartans outscored the Badgers 8-0 to start the second half, giving MSU a 39-22 lead with 16:21 to play. The Badgers didn’t get on the board in the second period until 14:14 when Tiera Stephen hit a jumper to make the score 39-24.
