MINNEAPOLIS -- Tied at halftime, the No. 15 Wisconsin women's soccer team rode an offensive explosion that included three goals within nine minutes of the second half to rout Big Ten border rival Minnesota in a 4-1 final at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium on Saturday night.
Cara Walls scored twice, while Kylie Schwarz and Kodee Williams each found the net as well, leading the Badgers (13-2-1, 7-1-1 Big Ten) to their first win over Minnesota since 2010.
Wisconsin also improved to 7-1-0 away from home this season, including six true road wins, which tied last season for the fourth-best total in school history.

"I think it takes a high level of professionalism. You can't go away from leadership," UW head coach Paula Wilkins said of the group's ability to win on the road. "Kodee Williams was very good today with her energy. I also challenged Cara (Walls) at halftime to hold up more balls, and she did.
"I think it's a group that's raising their level and having a high expectation of what they want to do as a program."
Williams got the Badgers on the board first, scoring just four minutes into the game. Unassisted, the redshirt senior took a pass in the box, then made a move to beat both the defender and Minnesota goalkeeper Tarah Hobbs for the score.
It marked the fourth goal of the season for Williams and also stood as her fourth game-winning goal.
Taylor Wodnick would even up the match in the 24th minute, scoring with the header on an assist from Josee Stiever.
The game remained tied at halftime and neither team would find the net in a scoring drought that lasted nearly 32 minutes.
Then, the floodgates opened, as UW scored three times in nine minutes, including two goals from Walls alone.
Schwarz helped the Badgers regain the lead in the 56th minute, scoring on the corner kick taken by Rose Lavelle. It marked the first goal of the season for the sophomore defender from Plymouth, Minnesota, and the second of her career.
Walls took over and finished the job, scoring the 10th and 11th goals of her season in the 61st and 65th minute, respectively, to clinch the victory. It marked the third time this season that Walls has scored two goals in a single game.
Lavelle, who recorded an assist on Walls' first goal, finished the night with two assists. Recording the seventh and team-leading eighth assists of her season, the sophomore put together a balanced and efficient game in the midfield that also included three shots and two shots on goal.
"I really think one of the differences tonight was Rose (Lavelle)," Wilkins said. "She was fantastic and had a huge role in the goals. Whether it shows in the stats or not, she was at a different level."
Performing at a high level as a whole, UW's offensive display marked the third time this season the team has scored four or more goals in a game.
Defenisvely, Genevieve Richard helped limit the Gophers (8-7-2, 5-4-1 Big Ten) to just one goal. The redshirt senior recorded five saves on the night and improved to 13-2-1 on the season.
Wisconsin returns home for its final homestand of the season, beginning Oct. 24 with a showdown against No. 14 Rutgers.
