Badger women's golf signs three
November 17, 2014 | Women's Golf

MADSISON, Wis. -- Badger women’s golf coach Todd Oehrlein announced the signing of three players to letters of intent during the early signing period. Bunyaporn (Nat) Zeng, Tess Hackworthy of Madison, Wisconsin, and Jessica Reinecke of Verona, Wisconsin, will attend the University of Wisconsin next fall.
In these three players, Oehrlein has found successful golfers and student-athletes. Two of the players are well-known to the Madison-area community. Tess Hackworthy and Jessica Reinecke have been friendly competitors at the state level for four years with each winning a WIAA state individual title. Their teams have also won titles, and now they will combine their many talents as teammates in the class of 2015.
Joining them is Bunyaporn (Nat) Zeng, the first player from Thailand to play for the Badgers. “Nat” as she is called, spent this past year attending the International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head, S.C. The IJGA provides training, academics and competition for junior golfers from all over the world.
Reinecke won the WIAA state titles in 2012 and 2013, and Hackworthy won the WIAA title in 2014. Both have been first-team all-state players the past three years and Wisconsin State Golf Coaches Association Players of the Year.
Hackworthy has been a member of Edgewood High School's four-straight state championship teams. Reinecke’s Verona High School team won the 2014 WIAA State Division I title. And both are National Honor Society members.
Zeng took a different path in golf, starting to play as a youngster before taking time off from sports for a virtuoso musical experience. When she returned to golf at age 16, she found success as the two-time SEASAC (South East Asia Student Activity) Girl Champion and MVP in 2012 and 2013. She eventually became ranked in the Top 50 in ThaiLPGA Amateur Ranking in 2014.
UW Coach Todd Oehrlein said, "We are extremely excited to have Jessica, Tess, and Nat joining our program. All three have really impressed us with their maturity and their excitement for the University of Wisconsin. They all have the potential to be very good players for our program and are wonderful young women. They are dedicated, hard-working and we are thrilled that they chose Wisconsin."
