MADISON, Wis. - After helping guide the Wisconsin women's soccer team to one of the program's most successful seasons, associate head coach Tim Rosenfeld was recognized as a Regional Assistant Coach of the Year, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Tuesday.
One of eight assistants recognized, Rosenfeld was named Senior College Women's Regional Assistant Coach of the Year for the Great Lakes Region after the Badgers claimed a school record 19 wins, the program's first Big Ten tournament title since 2005 and UW's 18th appearance in the NCAA tournament.
Working primarily with goalkeepers and strikers, Rosenfeld was instrumental in the development and success of Genevieve Richard setting a school record 16 solo shutouts en route to being named 2014 Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year and an NSCAA All-American. As a defensive unit, the Badgers recorded 18 team shutouts in 24 matches this past season, a Big Ten record.
Having just completed his eighth season at Wisconsin, Rosenfeld also oversaw 2011 Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year Michele Dalton. Both learning under the tutelage of Rosenfeld, goalkeepers Dalton and Richard are the only Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year award winners in Wisconsin program history.
Wisconsin head coach Paula Wilkins and Rosenfeld each eclipsed 200 career wins this past season, finishing with a 19-3-2 overall record and placing second in the Big Ten Conference at 9-2-2.
Rosenfeld joined the Badgers in 2007 after six years as an assistant at Penn State. Aside from his duties on the coaching staff, Rosenfeld also handles scheduling, recruiting, travel and youth camps.
