The Badgers won the 2014 Big Ten Conference championship with a 19-1 record and advanced to the NCAA Regional final, finishing the season with a 31-3 mark. It is the highest winning percentage in program history.
Wisconsin nearly sweep the Big Ten's year-end awards. Sophomore Lauren Carlini was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Setter of the Year. Junior Taylor Morey was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Kelly Sheffield was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year.
In addition, Carlini, Morey and senior Courtney Thomas were named first-team All-Big Ten while sophomore Haleigh Nelson and senior Dominique Thompson were selected as honorable mention All-Big Ten. Kelli Bates was also named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. It marked the most first-team All-Big Ten selections for Wisconsin since 2007 while it is the most All-Big Ten honorees in a season for the team.
The Badgers also landed five players on the AVCA Northeast All-Region team, the most all-region selections for the Badgers, topping 2007's four all-region picks. Carlini earned her second straight all-region pick while first-time honors went to Thomas, Thompson, Morey and Nelson.
Wisconsin also celebrated record crowds in 2014 as UW had five sell outs in the UW field House. The sell outs upped the Badgers' season attendance average to 4,933 fans per match, which ranked third nationally and second in the Big Ten. The Badgers drew a total of 73,999 fans for the season. The average and total attendance marks rank second all-time at UW, trailing only the 2007 marks of 75,750 totals fans for an average of 5,050.
