- Wisconsin suffered its second straight loss of the season. The Badgers dropped two consecutive matches for the first time since November of 2013.
- Lauren Carlini had a double-double in the match with 33 assists and 13 digs. That marks her team-high seventh double-double of the season and her seventh match with 10-plus digs.
- Taylor Morey was held under 10 digs for the first time this year as she finished with nine saves.
- Wisconsin did not score a service ace for the first time all season.
- The Badgers held Penn State's Micha Hancock to two service aces after she entered the match with a nation-leading 1.17 aces per set.
- The UW Field House hosted a crowd of 6,012 for the Badgers' Big Ten opener.
- Penn State's overall hitting percentage was .395 heading into the match and Wisconsin held them to a .288 hitting percentage.
- Wisconsin had only one player record double-figure kills (Ellen Chapman 13) for fourth time this season.
- The Penn State loss ended a six-match home winning streak for the Badgers.
- Wisconsin wraps up its three-match stretch against top-10 teams with a 1-2 record.
