Postgame Quotes
Wisconsin vs. Iowa
Jan. 20, 2015
Kohl Center- Madison, Wis.

Wisconsin Head Coach Bo Ryan
On what he was most satisfied with tonight:
"I thought we did a lot of good things helping one another defensively. You don't hold a team like that for that long without having guys really buying in and doing their job. Iowa's good on both ends of the floor, but it was nice to see our guys listen to the instructions and try to make the opposition try to score in some different ways. I thought we did a good job of that."

On if he thinks this was the team's most complete performance of the season:
"One turnover? Come on. I thought our guys did an excellent job making the extra pass, using the ball fakes, and as long as Iowa lent wingspans and quickness, you have to give our guys a lot of credit. There is not too many times you can do that."

On if the one turnover will find its way into the teaching clips for the team:
"It's listed as a team turnover. That's on the point guard. That's what my coach would've told me if we had a shot clock when we played."

On if the team did something better tonight with assists compared to other nights:
"I just thought we made the extra pass we needed to. Iowa can cause a lot of havoc, and they have. If you study their team, and you look, they're in a position right now towards the top of the league. It's not by accident. That's a very good team. We played extremely well. We know we've got to play them again, and maybe again, and then maybe again. This day in age, you play somebody twice in the regular season, and you could end up playing them four times. That's happened before. I just think our guys made some pretty good decisions. The ball has to go through the hole to get an assist, so you have to make some shots."

Senior G Josh Gasser
On the team's well-rounded performance:
"We technically turned the ball over one time, and when you follow the scouting reports closely - which Coach Close does a great job with - you're going to put yourself in a good position to win. I think we had a good effort for forty minutes, really. We've had good spurts throughout the year, but I think tonight might have been our most complete performance."

On the team's defensive performance:
"We did a great job eliminating their transition points and rebounding the ball, so they didn't get any second opportunities. We followed the scouting report, which goes over individual tendencies and I think we took away what some of their guys like to do individually, as well as rebounding, which is important in every single game we play. I think tonight we did that really well."

Junior F Sam Dekker
On the team's well-rounded performance:

"Josh said something to us, either before the game or at halftime, and he said that we haven't put together a complete 40 minutes yet this season. He wanted us to continue our play in the second half, so I think we were as close to a complete 40 minutes as we've been all year. I think we're pretty happy with the way we played defensively in the second half, they got a few easy looks, but overall I think it was one of our best 40 minutes of the year."

On the team's energy:
"Overall, I thought we had a lot of energy tonight. You have to credit that national anthem, that got me going, so that was pretty cool. We had a great energy inside the whole gym. The crowd was into it, the team got into it, the bench was live tonight, so overall I think one through 16 of us played well. At times (we) just made them work. We were tough on the defensive end, and then when we moved the ball around like we did everything flows together really well. Sequence-by-sequence, we had a pretty good game."

Senior F Frank Kaminsky
On Josh Gasser's leadership:
"Josh is Captain America. Josh is the hero of our team. I just watched American Sniper, and I see a lot of Chris Kyle in Josh Gasser. Josh is the best. I love Josh. Go Josh. Team Josh. Hashtag team Josh."

Iowa Head Coach Fran McCaffery

On Iowa's defensive lapses at the beginning of the game:
"We broke down. They're an excellent 3-point shooting team, but they're also a very good 1-on-1 team. We stayed a little longer than we probably should have on our help and didn't recover quickly enough. They hit a couple early (3s) and that's not how you want to start, obviously."

On the chance his team had to make a statement with a win tonight:
"I think anybody that plays this team right now, being where they're (Wisconsin) ranked, has an opportunity. We had an opportunity tonight and we didn't take advantage of it."

On what disappointed him regarding the effort of his team:
"We didn't get the concentration. It takes tremendous concentration and effort to beat a team of this caliber, (and) with this much experience. They're very efficient with their passing and their ball movement, very physical defensively, (and) tough to rebound against. So anything short of complete effort and concentration, you're going to struggle to win this game. I was disappointed in our execution when we got behind and that happens a lot on the road. Sometimes you try to get it all back at once. We started quick-shooting the ball, and that's when I'm talking about concentration. You can't come into this environment, fall behind and then quick-shoot the ball and expect to win. It's just not going to happen and it didn't. That's disappointing and hopefully we'll learn from that."
