Badger coach Michael Burcin commented on round 1: "I thought we were very close to having a extremely good day today. We made a few big numbers late that turned today into just an ok day. Eddie again was very solid as he continues his good play. Important to get a good start tomorrow and be in position to win on Wednesday."
Wisconsin's second-best golfers were Ben Skogen and Matt Ross, as they notched 3-over 74s. The pair is tied for 35th.
Michael Abrahamson was just one stroke behind Skogen and Ross with a 4-over 75. He is knotted in 45th.
