UW jumps three spots to place 10th at Gifford Collegiate Championship

Carlsbad, Calif. – In its final round of the fall season, Wednesday, the Wisconsin men's golf team registered its best 18-hole round of the Gifford Collegiate Championship, shooting a 9-over 293 to finish 10th in the 54-hole Gifford Collegiate Championship at La Costa Resort.

The Badgers (+34, 294-299-293=886) jumped three spots in the third round.
Washington held onto the top spot on Day 3 to take the crown with a 6-under 285-275-286=846. The Huskies handedly won the tournament, as Stanford (+3, 285-277-293=855) was nine shots back in second. San Diego State (290-282-293=865) rounded out the top three at 13-over.

Junior Ben Skogen (74-74-70=218) finished as Wisconsin's top performer, as he shot a 1-under 70 in the third round to put him at 5-over for the event. He placed tied for 20th.

Sophomore Eddie Wajda III (71-76-76=223), who was the team's top golfer through 36 holes, tied for 41st with a 10-over 223.

Freshman Jordan Hahn (79-72-74=225) and senior Matt Ross (74-78-73=225) knotted for 51st at 12-over.

Wrapping up Wisconsin's scoring was sohomore Michael Abrahamson at a 16-over 75-77-77=229.

The Badgers break for the winter before returning to competition in February.
