AIKEN, S.C. – Competing in its first event of the 2015-16 spring season, the Wisconsin men's golf team is 17th through two rounds at the 54-hole Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C.

While the Badgers (+27, 307-289=596) went for a 27-over 307 in Round 1, they responded with a 9-over 289 in the second round.

UW is 36-over after 36-holes, trailing 16th-place Presbyterian College (+32, 293-299=592) by four strokes.

South Carolina (-18, 276-266=542) has a comfortable tournament lead at 18-under—14 strokes better than Virginia (-4, 283-273=556) in second.

Augusta (+12, 280-292=572) is in third, followed by East Carolina (+13, 293-280=573) and NC State (+16, 294-282=576).

Ben Skogen (+7, 78-69=147) was Wisconsin's best golfer after 36 holes, as he shot a 7-over 147 to tie for 38th. His 1-under 69 in Round 2 was one of 23 scorecards in the 60s on Monday. Among the 180 total rounds recorded, only about 13 percent dropped below 70.

Eddie Wajda III (+9, 77-72=149) and Jordan Hahn (+9, 76-73=149) were UW's next best performers, with the pair tying for 56th at 9-over. Wajda's even 72 in the second round was the team's second-lowest one-round total, trailing just Skogen's 69.

Tied for 76th was Johnny Decker (+12, 77-75=152). He put up a 7-over 77 in the first round before improving to a 75 in Round 2.

Rounding out Wisconsin's team scoring, Michael Abrahamson (+21, 77-84=161) scored a 161 on Monday.

Third and final round play at Palmetto Golf Club—the fourth-oldest golf course in the United States, according to GolfStat.com—begins on Tuesday morning.
