2015 AVCA All-Americans
'MADISON, Wis. – Four members of the Wisconsin volleyball team have been named All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Junior Lauren Carlini earns her second first-team All-America honor, becoming just the second Badger to earn two first-team honors. She joins Sherisa Livingston (1998-2001) as the only two-time first-team member. Carlini also becomes the first three-time All-American in UW history.
Junior Haleigh Nelson earned second-team honors after being named an honorable mention All-American in 2014. Senior Taylor Morey and freshman Tionna Williams earned honorable mention recognition. Four All-Americans marks the second most in program history, following only last season's five honorees.
Carlini, a 6-1 setter, leads the Big Ten Conference and ranks seventh nationally with 11.91 assists per set. The 2014 and 2015 Big Ten Setter of the Year, Carlini is a three-time All-Big Ten selection. The Aurora, Illinois, native also ranked third on the Badger squad with 2.79 digs and 0.82 blocks per set.
Nelson, a 2015 All-Big Ten pick, set the Wisconsin season record for hitting percentage at .422. That mark ranks second in the Big Ten and eighth nationally. The Cary, North Carolina, native led the Badgers with 31 service aces on the season and also ranked second on the team with 1.23 blocks per set while adding 2.62 kills per set for third on the squad.
A 5-6 libero, Morey led the Badgers and ranked fourth in the Big Ten with 4.49 digs per set. She had double-figure digs in 28 matches in 2015, including eight matches with 20-or-more saves. The Muncie, Indiana, native, also ranked second on the team with 19 service aces this season.
Williams, a 6-2 middle blocker, led Wisconsin and ranked fourth in the Big Ten with 1.31 blocks per set while adding 2.21 kills per set. A member of the 2015 Big Ten All-Freshman team, the Fort Wayne, Indiana, native ranked second on the UW team with a hitting percentage of .330.
