Badger duo shines at IAAF World Cross Country Championships

MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin's Morgan McDonald finished 40th in the men's junior race at the 2015 International Association of Athletes Federation (IAAF) World Cross Country Championships, while Shaelyn Sorensen placed 68th in the women's junior race on Saturday in Guiyang, China.
McDonald, running for his home country of Australia, was the first Aussie to cross the line, finishing the 8-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 56 seconds. It marked his second top-40 finish at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, as he placed 33rd in the junior race in 2013.
Yasin Haji of Ethiopia won the junior men's race in 23:43, but Kenya had the next three runners cross the line to help Kenya win the team title with a score of 19 points.
Sorensen, in her first IAAF competition, placed 68th for Team USA, crossing the 6.03-kilometer course in 23:10.
Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia won the race in 19:48, and was one of four Ethiopians to finish in the top five to lead Ethiopia to the team title.
