
Rochel added to CS Phoenix Galati roster

MADISON, Wis.- Former Badger women's basketball player Cassie Rochel has signed a contract to play professionally with the Clubul Sportiv Phoenix Galati in Galati, Romania.
CS Phoenix Galati is part of Liga Nationala, the top women's league in Romania. The team, which starts its 2015-16 campaign in September, finished 16-15 last season.
"I'm extremely excited to have the opportunity to be playing overseas," Rochel said. "It has been a lifelong dream of mine to travel the world and play the sport I love.
"I leave in September and I couldn't feel more blessed to finally be making this dream a reality. I thank the University of Wisconsin-Madison for all of the opportunities and memories but it's time for me to take my talents to Galati, Romania!"
Rochel, a 6-4 post, finished her career at Wisconsin ranking second in career blocks with 181 and third with 1.64 blocks per games. As a junior, she led the Big Ten Conference in blocks, averaging 2.67 per game, which 14th nationally. Rochel holds the second and fifth highest single season block totals in UW history.
In 2014-15, Rochel played and started in 28 games for the Badgers, averaging 24.1 minutes per game and 6.6 points per game. She scored in double figures in six games, including a season-high 14 points in the win over Florida on Dec. 10. Rochel set a Big Ten Tournament single-game record in her final game in the Cardinal and White with seven blocks vs. Purdue on March 4.
