11 things you should know about University Ridge

MADISON, Wis. -- There is a lot going on and plenty of golf to play this season at University Ridge Golf Course. Fans will want to view the upcoming Wisconsin State Men's Golf Open August 17-19.
1. The 95th Wisconsin State Open will be played at University Ridge August 17-19. Admission is free. We are still looking for volunteers for the event. If you are interested in volunteering please contact General Manager Mike Gaspard at mg2@athletics.wisc.edu.
2. Our practice facility is open to the public. Prices are $10 for 45 minutes or $20 for and all day pass. The practice facility will be closed to the public August 17-19, September 19-22, September 26-29, and October 11-13 because of tournaments. Note: the indoor UW Golf Training Center is not open to the public.
3. Buy a Ping or Taylor Made golf bag in August and receive a free round of golf w/cart for the remainder of the 2015 season!
4. Beat the heat. Play early. Rates between 6:50-9 a.m., Monday-Friday, are only $50 to walk and $69 to ride, and include practice balls and a $5 merchandise credit.
5. The Big Game 3-Person Scramble will take place on the date of the football season opener: Badgers vs. Alabama, Saturday, September, 5. The scramble will start at 1:30pm (finished before the 7pm kickoff). Price will be $100 per player or $300 for the team. Price includes, practice balls, GPS golf carts with live scoring, great prizes, heavy appetizers, and loads of fun. 6. The 1st Annual Big Cup Scramble will take place October 24 at 10 a.m. 8-inch cups, friendly course set up, and flighted scoring makes it an event for all ability levels. The football team kicks off at Illinois at 2:30 p.m. on the 24th so you can enjoy the game at The W Grill after golf. Sign up with Andy Bacon at atb@athletics.wisc.edu.
7. You may have heard that University Ridge will be hosting the American Family Insurance Championship June 20-26, 2016. To find out more about this new PGA Champions Tour event or to inquire about volunteering check check out www.strickerfoundation.org
8. Cross Country skiing is coming to University Ridge this Winter with over 15K of trails! Look for more coming out this fall.
9. There is still a chance to save big by joining the Ridge Club in 2015. Late season prices are $175 for Bronze, $275 for Gold, and $375 for Business, through the remainder of the season. Contact Erik Stenseth at eds@athletics.wisc.edu for more information on joining the Ridge Club in 2015.
10. University Ridge will be the proud host of the Sub-regional for the Drive, Chip, and Putt competition on Saturday, August 8th. (golf course and practice facility will still be open)
11. Family Fridays take place every Friday after 5 p.m. (except August 21st). Every paid adult ($41 with cart) can bring up to two juniors for free! We set up a kid friendly tee area throughout the front nine as well. Call to book a tee time at 608-845-7700.
