MADISON, Wis. -- With the 2015-16 Wisconsin men's hockey season right around the corner, UWBadgers.com goes beyond what fans will see on the ice this season to introduce the 10 members of the Badgers' freshman class by exploring their personalities, likes and dislikes.
Next up in the series is goaltender Matt Jurusik.
Jurusik comes to Wisconsin after an impressive season a year ago in the NAHL with the Janesville Jets, helping the team to a league-record 100 points and a regular season title. Individually, Jurusik was one of the best goaltenders in the league, leading the NAHL in wins (33), goals-against-average (1.57), save percentage (.939) and shutouts (7). At one point during the 2014-15 season, Jurusik had a shutout streak of more than 300 minutes that spanned seven games. Jurusik is also a two-time invitee to USA Hockey's Warren Strelow National Team Goaltending Camp, which features the top goaltenders eligible for international play in select age groups.
Jurusik will wear No. 30 with UW, a number worn most recently by goaltender Landon Peterson a season ago (2011-2015). He will be the ninth goaltender to wear the number and the 13th different player to sport No. 30.
