Dodridge exits singles, Remy and Colton barely fall in doubles

MADISON, Wis. – In the closing day of the ITA Midwest Regional in Columbus, Ohio, the remaining Badgers bowed out of competition with close losses.
In the quarterfinals doubles round, junior captain Lamar Remy and freshman Chase Colton were a point away from advancing but fell 8-7 to Valpraiso's Charlie Emhardt and Jeffrey Schorsch. The pair went 3-1 on the weekend in their first competition as doubles partners.
In the singles category, junior Josef Dodridge suffered a two-set loss to Northwestern's Strong Kirchheimer, a first team All-Big Ten honoree and No. 2 seed, 6-1, 7-6. Dodridge finished 3-1 on the weekend to improve to 5-5 in the fall season.
"We had a very good weekend here at the regional," head coach Danny Westerman said. "I was very pleased that several guys were able to pick up wins and advance. There was some great competition and the guys are coming away with a lot of positives from this trip."
Wisconsin gets next weekend off before playing the Big Ten Singles Championship on its home turf at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Matches will start on Friday, November 4 and continue through Monday.
