Brotherton named to Academic All-District Soccer Team

Sophomore honored by College Sports Information Directors of America
MADISON, Wis. – After strong performances both on the pitch and in the classroom, Wisconsin men's soccer defender Sam Brotherton was named to the 2016 Academic All-District soccer team in the sixth district, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
The Auckland, New Zealand, native earns the distinction after managing a 3.94 grade-point average while majoring in business.
Brotherton has a career-best three goals this season after going on a three-match point streak. He has six points this season and has started in all 12 games he's played in this season.
A sophomore captain for UW, Brotherton has anchored a UW defense that has seven shutouts in 15 games this year.
The 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's and Women's Soccer Teams have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.Â
