COLUMBIA, Mo. — Ashley Peterson led the Wisconsin diving team on the first day of competition at the Missouri Diving Invitational, notching an NCAA zone qualifying mark on the 3-meter springboard Thursday.
Peterson ultimately took eighth in a competitive field of 35 divers, posting a score of 289.85 that was only 1.6 points shy of her season-best mark of 291.45.
The senior was the lone Badger to qualify for finals after also placing eighth in the preliminary round with 286.05 points.
Hazel Hertting, Alexandra Hafey and Dana Liva also competed in the 3-meter preliminary competition, with Hertting taking 20th (244.00), Hafey placing 23rd (229.85) and Liva finishing 24th (229.00).
The men also saw action today on the 1-meter board. Matt Aronson led Wisconsin with a 13th-place finish (267.05) followed by Kevin Pomeroy in the 15th position (261.80) and Andrew Pearce, who came in at 19th (257.40).
Max Reynolds and Ethan O'Neill also competed on the 1-meter, taking 22nd (231.60) and 24th (220.70), respectively.
Day two in Columbia has the men competing on the 3-meter board while the women tackle the 1-meter on Friday. Preliminary-round action is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (CT), with the women's 1-meter final beginning at 6 p.m. and the men's 3-meter final to start at 7:15 p.m.
