Celebrate the season on Jan. 15, 2017
MADISON, Wis. -- Celebrate the 2016 Wisconsin volleyball season and join the Badgers for their annual banquet on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, in Varsity Hall of Union South, 1308 W. Dayton St., on the UW campus. Doors open at 11:15 a.m. with a brunch buffet served at noon. The banquet program will follow brunch. Cost of the event is $30 per person while children 12–and-under are $12.

The Badgers advanced to their fourth-straight NCAA regional in 2016, losing to Stanford in the Elite Eight. Wisconsin went 28-5 on the year and tied for second in the Big Ten Conference at 17-3.
Three members of the team were named to the 2016 All-Big Ten squad. Senior Lauren Carlini became the first four-time All-Big Ten pick in program history, earning a unanimous selection, while senior Haleigh Nelson earned her second-straight honor. Sophomore Tionna Williams earned her first award while Molly Haggerty became the fourth Freshman of the Year in UW history. Haggerty also earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. Senior Tori Blake was recognized as the team's Sportsmanship Award recipient.
All four athletes were also named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) all-region with Haggerty being named Freshman of the Year. Redshirt senior Romana Kriskova earned honorable mention All-Region honors. Head coach Kelly Sheffield was also named the Northeast Regional Coach of the Year, his second honor at Wisconsin and the fourth of his career.
Wisconsin also celebrated record crowds in 2016 as UW had 12 sell outs in the Field House. The sell outs helped the Badgers set a school record with 5,927 spectators per match, which ranked third nationally. Wisconsin drew a record total of 94,829 fans for the season, breaking last year's mark of 85,774 spectators.
