
Cogan receives second WCHA Rookie of the Month honor

Freshman collected six points in February
MADISON, Wis. – For the second time in her career, Wisconsin women's hockey freshman Sam Cogan was named the WCHA Rookie of the Month for February, the conference announced Wednesday.
Cogan's six points in eight games tied for the lead among conference freshmen, while her +5 plus/minus rating during the month was tied for the second-best mark. She averaged three shots on goal per game, the most among WCHA rookie.
On the season, Cogan has scored nine goals and added 15 assists this season for 24 points. Her +34 plus/minus rating on the season ranks second among WCHA rookies.
Cogan, an Ottawa, Ontario, native earned WCHA Rookie of the Week honors three times this season (Nov. 3, Dec. 8, and Feb. 10) in addition to being named the WCHA Rookie of the Month for December.
Cogan and the No. 3 Badgers make their way to Minneapolis this weekend, opening the 2016 WCHA Final Face-Off against Minnesota Duluth. Saturday's semifinal at Ridder Arena is set for 2 p.m. with the winner advancing to Sunday's championship game, also at 2 p.m.
