Trio picks up wins on final day of competition

ATHENS, Georgia – After a short first day of competition at the Spec Towns Invitational, the Wisconsin women's track team picked things up on the second day, earning three wins and producing strong performances all around.

After winning the discus during yesterday's competition, redshirt senior Kelsey Card kept the momentum going as she earned another win in the shot put.

The All-American recorded a distance of 55 feet, 11 3/4 inches, almost five feet more than runner-up Adriana Brown of Kentucky. The mark is currently tied for sixth in the country.

Fellow throwers Kennedy Blahnik and Banke Oginni also had success in the shot put as they both collected new personal bests.

Blahnik recorded a mark of 48-10 1/4 to secure fourth place and Oginni took sixth with a heave of 47-1 3/4.

Redshirt freshman Lianna Mack also picked up a win for the Badgers as she claimed the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11 minutes, 5.77 seconds. Sophomore Elizabeth Flatley was runner-up as she crossed the line in 11:12.94.

Redshirt junior Sarah Heinemann picked up the last win of the day for UW as she clocked in at 4:37.03 in the 1,500 meters. Redshirt junior Madeline Timm and freshman Jackie Dubnicka were close behind as they took third and fourth, respectively, in 4:41.09 and 4:41.38.

Junior Brenna Detra picked up a new personal record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.02 to finish fourth. Junior Emma Reifel crossed the line in 2:15.60 to take eighth.

Freshman Emma Haugen earned a new personal best in the high jump as she cleared 5-5, two inches higher than her previous best.

Redshirt senior Brianna Bower, the current school record holder in the javelin, placed fourth in the event with a toss of 146-5. Sophomore Danielle Weber took ninth with a distance of 130-1 and redshirt sophomore Andria Savitch finished 12th with a mark of 108-3.

In the pole vault, sophomore Taylor Amann picked up seventh place with a height of 12-9 1/2 and freshman Claire Buck tied for 13th with a clearance of 11-9 3/4 .

The team next sees action in two weeks as the athletes are split up and head to either the Stanford Twilight, Triton Invitational, or the Arkansas Invitational.
