Ferrell improves in day 2 of the NCAA Regional

MADISON, WIs. Brooke Ferrell improved in day 2 of the 54-hole NCAA Bryan Regional collecting four birdies and three bogeys to finish 1-under and tie for 49th with a 78-71--149 in the second round in Bryan, Texas.
Bronte Law of UCLA surpassed first-round leader Biana Pagdanganan to take the lead at 9-under 69-66--135. Pagdanganan is second with 67-69--136. Arizona leads the team competition with a 9-under 567 at the par-72, 6,373-yard The Traditions course.
The top six teams and three individuals not on those teams advance to the NCAA Championships May 20-25 in Eugene, Oregon.
Ferrell is one of just six individual competitors at the regional. This is her third straight NCAA regional having finished 20th a year ago at the St. George Regional at Snow Canyon Country Club. She shot an even 72 in Round 1 before declining in the next 36 holes to finish with an 8-over 224. During her freshman campaign, the Edgerton, Wisconsin, native finished in a knot for 87th at the Central Regional in Cle Elum, Washington.
Going into the tournament, Ferrell held the best season scoring average in Wisconsin history at 73.21 strokes per round. At the Big Ten Championship, Ferrell tied the second-best finish all-time, placing third. The righty swinger also tied the lowest 18- (65) and 36-hole (137) scores in school history, while she set a 54-hole record with a 7-under 209.
The Bryan Regional continues with the third and final round on Saturday.
