Freshman business major is 17th player to earn the honor at Wisconsin
CORAL SPRINGS, Florida – Wisconsin freshman Jessica Reinecke was one of 828 women's collegiate golfers across all divisions that were recognized by the Women's Golf Coaches Association Tuesday as an All-American Scholar.Â
The pre-business major becomes the 17th player in Wisconsin women's golf history to earn a spot on the prestigious list, which dates back to 1986. The Badgers have had at least one scholar in each of the past seven years.
To be named an All-American scholar, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, which is among the highest requirements for an academic award in all of collegiate athletics, and Division I student-athletes must have competed in at least 60 percent of the school's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Reinecke appeared in six tournaments in her rookie season recording a 77.18 scoring average, which is the seventh best on the all-freshman list. She had her best tournament finish, tying for 24th at the East West Match Play event with a 75-76—151. Her best 54-hole round was recorded in the last event of the year when she tied for 71st at the Big Ten Conference Championship with a 78-75-76—229.
Here's a list of the other members of the Wisconsin women's golf program that have received WGCA All-American Scholar honors:
