Cheung wraps up World Amateur Team Championships

Hong Kong national team member finishes tied for 110th
RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO --Â Representing Hong Kong, senior Michelle Cheung finished in a tie for 110th place after competing against the world's top junior golfers at the World Amateur Team Championships in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

The senior finished 25-over and helped her team to a tie for 34th place. Cheung (77-80-80-76=313) concluded the tournament Saturday by shooting her best round.

Hosted by the Mexican Gold Federation, the tournament was held at the 6,295-yard Mayakoba El Camaleón Golf Club and the 6,167-yard Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club.

The Republic of Korea took home the Espirito Santo Trophy after finishing 29-under, an impressive 21 strokes ahead of second place Switzerland. Hye Jin Choi of Korea also took home the individual trophy behind a 14-under performance.

Last season, Cheung collected three top-25 finishes and ended with a scoring average of 74.97 strokes per round, which ranks as the tied-for-sixth-best in school history.

As a member of the Hong Kong national team, Cheung has competed in numerous international events. In 2013, Cheung made the cut at the World Ladies Championship and won the Hong Kong Ladies' Close Championship.
